Fell In Love With a Fairytale Girl

It snowed today. Everything is a blanket of white. And you know what? I slept til 9 AM. For me, that's huge. When I was younger, I could sleep til noon on weekends, but that's not been the case lately. Lately, I toss and turn even before the sun comes peeking in through the curtains. But I'm trying not to dwell on it.

My mom is so overprotective of me. I have a cell phone but I can only use it to call her, dad, or Karen (my older sister.) Why? Because Karen has a car and if something happens, she can come get me. She's 16 and she got a car on her birthday. Granted, it wasn't exactly new, or uber fancy, but it's her freedom. And she's allowed to use it. Her first report card for her junior year was mostly C's...she smokes...I know she drinks at parties and she's had sex with her boyfriend. None of these are bad things, but she gets to do whatever she wants and my parents trust her, but not me. I don't smoke, drink, I get almost straight A's, but I have to write down where I'm going and who with for everything. And most of the time, my mom has to drive me and hang around, like to go to the mall.

She expects me to live up to standards though. She doesn't expect Karen to be perfect, but I have to be, and so does my younger brother Sean. I'm not sure why the double standard. My dad doesn't really have much to say on the issue because he's away on business so much. I see him about three times a week, and have dinner with him about one time a week. I try not to argue or fight with him during these times. But lately I've been arguing with my mom more, and not just about world issues and whatnot.

Her latest thing is I should eat healthier. That I'm getting a bit heavy for my frame. I'm 5'6 and 129 pounds (I WAS 123 pounds before the 6 pound gain.) But I don't think I'm unhealthy. I get more exercise than her, that's for sure. She works at home, sitting in her little home office all day and let me tell you...she's no waif. She used to be, though. Karen is kinda chubby, but she's always been that way. Does mom get on her case? Nope.

Anyway, I didn't mean to ramble.

I have dance rehearsal from here until December 17th, twice a week, to prepare for the Christmas show at my dance academy. It's going to be a mix of the Nutcracker and the Rockettes show. I'm a Rockette. Yes, I tried out for the lead, but they gave it to this girl who's 'graduating' in January. Apparently we're both really good, but she has seniority? Or something. She's almost 17 and that's considered a bit old, if you're making dance a career like she plans to. I'm not, btw. I'm not sure what I wanna be yet.

My doctor suggested I try herbal methods before she puts me on meds. My dad picked up some stuff called melatonin, and my mom told me to make a cup of decaf herbal tea with honey and lemon and hour and a half before bed. So I've been trying that, and instead of waking up at 4, I wake up at 5. With a headache. Oh well, I guess it's an improvement.

I've gained 6 pounds this school year. Who pointed it out? The volunteer seamstress who measured me for my costume. She measured me for the last recital, and remarked that I'm a big bigger. The doctor's scale confirmed it. Whatever, I have more important things to think about. I know I'm not fat...I'd have to gain 20 more pounds or so to get to that level (now watch it happen.)

I have a doctor's appointment after school today to address my rapidly escalating insomnia. Yesterday, I fell asleep in eighth period. That has never happened to me before. I'm not a sleep in class person, but it just overwhelmed me. My eyes started burning, my head felt heavy, and next thing I knew the bell was ringing. But when I'm at home, at night, in my comfy bed I CANNOT sleep. It's driving me crazy.
I've stopped drinking caffeine.
I don't eat before bed.
I exercise a lot (dance and whatnot.)

Awake at 4 in the morning. I have to shower and get dressed for school in less than two hours.
After school, I'm going to go to Urban Outfitter's. I saw some stuff that would make excellent X-mas gifts for some people I know. :)

School is going well. So far, I have a 3.2 GPA. Awesome! When I first started high school I was convinced I was gonna have a 4.0 like I did in junior high. I didn't count on how busy I'd be. Two clubs, babysitting, taking care of my dogs, homework plus social life equals...well, it equals a 3.2. Oh well, it's still respectable.
